- 3 tsp Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Basil
- 1/2 tsp Fennel
- 1/2 tsp Paprika
- 1/4-1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- There are two ways of going about pulling together this spice mix. The first is to simply gather the ingredients and put them in a container. The second way is to grind and mix them together to open their flavors even and combine them into a cohesive new spice.My amazing husband gifted me a spice grinder and this is my favorite thing to use it for. Truth be told, the spice mixer is really just a coffee grinder, but it works perfectly for grinding up spices.The difference between a true coffee grinder and spice grinder is that a spice grinders have two abrasive plates that grind spices whereas coffee grinders have blades that are essentially the same as a blender.If you’re using a spice grinder, you can also add in spices that you’ve prepared yourself. This can include dried basil like I used here. Herbs like basil and oregano can be dried by hanging them upside down for a few weeks out of direct sunlight.
